Welcome to Alula, a mysterious continent with ever-changing geography, shaped after the rhythm of the seasons. Beyond the Sea of Mists lies the mysterious continent of Alula. Roam across the land in search of its secrets, meet its inhabitants and list its wonders in order to gain more fame than your opponents.Throughout a game of Faraway, you will play a row of 8 cards in front of you, from left to right. These cards represent the regions you will come across while exploring the lands. Characters on these cards will grant you victory points if you later fulfil the conditions they demand. At the end of the game, you walk back the same way, scoring cards in the opposite order you played them. There lies the heart of the gameplay. Throughout the game, the cards you play will serve both to set new objectives, and to meet the ones you played previously. Each turn, you play a card from a hand of 3. Then you pick a new card from a face-up river. As play is simultaneous in Faraway, you must take into account a clever priority system in all of your choices – being last to pick a card leaves you with fewer options and often less profitable choices for the next turns.—description from the publisher

May You Fish in Interesting Times is a role-playing game for 3-5 players, played using a deck of playing cards and a 6-sided dice (purchased separately). A typical game session takes 90 minutes to 3 hours. You play as anthropomorphic birds going on a fishing trip, who also happened to be rebels in a failed revolution that took place in the past. This is a cosy fishing game, but at the same time about broken birds bonding over shared past trauma.Instead of coming up with backstories for the characters at the beginning, the players learn about the bird anglers' backstories as they play the game.Mechanics To play the game, each player picks one of the bird angler playbooks. The players take turns drawing cards and answering questions on their playbook. When a player manages to collect a trio of cards that fit certain requirements, something is caught on the hook. Certain questions allow characters to deepen their relationships with each other, and for the players to manipulate the cards in their hands. After fishing, the bird anglers would share a meal using what they've caught. At the end of the meal, the secret police would show up.The game mechanic draws inspiration from For the Queen by Alex Roberts and Brindlewood Bay by Jason Cordova. What's includedYou will find the PDF of a 20-page A5 rulebook with instructions on how to play the game, beautiful illustrations, and bird trivia.Printable playbooks can be found in the "demo" section of the page. In a bold age of neo-humanistic advancement and technological breakthrough, life evolved, and the lines between biology and engineering blurred. The limits of possibility were shattered. A great civilization rose toward the stars, toward an enlightenment increasingly within reach. That civilization collapsed. How and why are long since forgotten. Chaos reigned. Technological understanding was lost to generations of strife and survivalism as time rendered everything (humanity included) into discarded scraps of what once was. In this fallen world, the last wretched vestiges of humanity vie for the only hope for significance that remains: leverage. Vestige is a highly-strategic, competitive modern euro that you can play in an hour. It is built around a resource alchemy system modelled on the colour wheel that offers great depth but can be understood almost instantly; for example, mix might (red) and cunning (yellow) to attain guile (orange). A modular game board; variable end-game conditions; and a card-tableau, engine-building heart makes every game crunchy, and combo-driven. Derived from Vindication, Vestige reimagines its systems in a new setting and with a new depth-to-approachability ratio. Each turn you move around a randomly generated map of locations, each offering a unique action or effect. Visiting these locations you unlock your potential, spread your influence, develop your attributes, build your network of contacts across three factions (smugglers, mercenaries, lawmakers), and then work with that network to complete jobs your contacts are suited for (unearthing artifacts, claiming bounties, and developing augmentations). Through action selection, card-tableau combo building, area control, and careful resource management you seek to gain more leverage than your opponents, all while the powers-that-be use any and all insidious tricks at their disposal to keep you down where they want you.
